Today is a Friday, which is the Muslim Holy day. Some shops shut but still quite a lot still open.
The Muslim call to prayer five times a day every day gets wearisome after a while, it's so intrusive.
Our guide made a note-worthy observation, "Jesus came to make the people holy not the places". It's been good to bear that in mind as we go around the tourist bits.
Can't help but notice the extraordinary amount of smoking that goes on. It seems that most men smoke. And there's an awful lot of rubbish on the streets. Makes you wonder about the health risks.
Buildings are mostly square with flat roofs. Most are pretty featureless, though there are a number which are a bit more stylish, they look like modern ones. Lots of tower blocks. It's like being in one huge building site the number of unfinished buildings.
Down to the Dead Sea and Jericho. Visited the archaeological site at Tel-Jericho. Next to the ruins there is a refugee camp, but the people living there aren't refugees they are living there as a form of protest. A reminder that not everything is as straight forward as it may first appear.
The whole country and the cities (particularly Jerusalem and Hebron) are split into zones.
