Module to prevent changes to Aliases.
I have a number of different applications that load the same file types, this is particularly true of graphic filetypes.
Most of the time I want my favoured application to load those particular file types, so I find it extremely irritating when another application decides to deal with that file type itself.
So having been frustrated for long enough (these magazine CD's with their own version of !ARCFS and a read only Fresco has been the final straw) I've finally managed to get round to do something about it. Hence this module.

Shape Screensaver 1.00: 14K
RISC OS 4 Screen saver.
This was written after a request in argonet.acorn.misc from a program submitted by Peter Young.
Or if you don't have RISC OS 4, then get this version.

!PrnCheck 1.01: 16K
Printer status checking program. Written in BASIC.
The program sits on the icon bar and it's icon changes to reflect the state of the printer connected via the parallel port. Also, if an application tries to print whilst the printer is not online then the program displays an error message allowing the user to place the printer online before printing actually takes place.
Unlike !PrnStat, however, it does not monitor the printer directly and so should work on the Archimedes ranges that don't have a bi-directional parallel port, and also it does not need to be configured to the particular model of printer.
Indeed, it has been successfully tested on an Archimedes A440/1 running Risc OS 3.1
 
Whilst !PrnStat is not going to be developed further I am looking to develop !PrnCheck further, and I have a number of ideas that I wish to pursue, particularly regarding programs that don't print using the printer protocols.
 
!Printers 1.62 includes checking the state of the printer.

preLogo 1.04: 69K
Pre-Desktop Welcome screen load screen. Written in ARM Assembler.
Having seen a new PC recently which hid the POST test bits behind a logo, I thought I can do that.
And so here it is, a logo to hide all those Pre-Desk messages that flash up.
 
My first module and foray into ARM assembler.
Appears to work correctly under Risc OS 4.02
It is now 32-bit compatible, but does not seem to work in the Iyonix !Boot structure for some unknown reason

WimpPoll 1.01: 5K
Calculates the Wimp Poll mask value. Written in BASIC.
All of the Wimp Poll mask calculators that I have seen require you to tick the events that you don't want to receive.
In this version, you tick the events that you want to receive, which is a bit more natural I think.
 

!CassLabel: 5K
To print cassette inlays. Written in BASIC.
This is a program written way back in 1991. It is a very simple cassette inlay printing program and works best with a dot-matrix printer !
 
From my early days of WIMP programming and is well past it's use by date now, although it still works !
 

!CDAuto: 38K Not StrongARM compatible - I think!
CD player. Written in BASIC.
This program was written to show how the CD_ SWI's are used. The program no longer appears to work under my current setup of Risc OS 3.70 and StrongARM, and I suspect that the problem lies with the StrongARM processor.
 
This program was written in order to obtain information concerning the SWI's and is not intended to be developed further.
 
!SparkPlug may be used to dearchive these files.
Download it as a self-extracting BASIC program.
 

RAMTEST.EXE: 7K
Returns an errorlevel corresponding to the drive letter of the ramdrive. Written in Turbo Pascal.
This program reads the Drive Parameter Blocks looking for a ramdrive. If it finds one it returns an errorlevel corresponding to it's drive letter. The environment variables RDRIVE and HDRIVE are set to the ramdrive drive letter and the number of hard discs found, respectively.
 

WINKIT.EXE: Copyright ICL UK - Not available for downloading
Computerised kit ledgers for use in ICL field stores. Written in Turbo Pascal (DOS) and Delphi (Windows 3.1).
This program was written to replace the paper-based kit ledgers, which are used by engineers to record part movements to and from the kits held at a specific ICL location.
 
The program is currently only used in the Cardiff and Swansea offices. The program is approved by the Quality team and meets BSI requirements.
 
Password protection is used to prevent users accessing undesirable functions.
The Windows version features standard Windows-style help and for extra security the program can be used in place of Window's Program Manager, yet allowing access to Windows applications through a configurable menu structure.
 

 

DISCS.EXE: Copyright ICL UK - Not available for downloading
Displays information on hard discs. Written in Turbo Pascal.
This is a text only display of drive information, such as ICL part number, disc type number, number of cylinders and heads and sectors, and link information. It uses a CSV file to store the data and the user can search on drive manufacturer, ICL computer type, cylinders and heads and sectors, disc size and ICL part numbers.
 
The CSV file format was chosen because a spreadsheet could be used to enter the data quickly and easily.
This program was written to address a particular need on pre-pentium and early 486 computers. But with the majority of discs now being auto-detected this program is now considered obsolete and has not been developed or used since 1994.
 

KEL Generator Pro 1.02: 137K
Allows the creation and amendment of KELs. Written in VB5.
If you know what a KEL is then you will probably want to download this program.
If you don't you might want this program anyway if you want to see how to use OLE and Word documents.
Just the source is available so you will need VB5 to compile it.
 

ProgCtrl: 30K
Allows the controlling of other applications through a simple scripting language. Written in VB5.
This program is able to control other Windows applications and DOS boxes through a rather simple script file. It was developed to automate some rather boring jobs I have to do in work every morning. I just set the program going in the morning and get on with something far more exciting until it's finished and then deal with the end result.
Just the source is available so you will need VB5 to compile it.
 
And I still haven't got round to sorting this GIFs out!
